She shared a video of her new treadmill walking routine and we have the details.

Valerie Bertinelli is feeling optimistic about her fitness journey. The 62-year-old recently posted a video to Tiktok, updating fans on her latest go-to exercise: walking on the treadmill.

In the video, the Food Network star takes fans along for her walk, celebrating her journey to becoming more active.

“So just 12 years ago, I did a marathon. But you know what? You gotta start somewhere, I’m not embarrassed,” Bertinelli said candidly while showing herself walking at a slow and steady pace on the exercise equipment. She captioned the post “Day 1” and finished the clip by saying “Today is the first day of the rest of my life.”

At the end of the video, fans could see the joy in Bertinelli’s expression at the thought of renewing this positive chapter in her life. Many showed their support in the comments section: “You inspire me… I will have a first day!! Thanks for the strength!!!!” one person commented while another fan wrote “I just started back, too… WE GOT THIS!”

Historically, Bertinelli has been very honest about her complicated relationship with weight. She has been candid about body image, including sharing how her early life impacted her relationship with food and how she tries to stay positive and change her mindset.

Earlier this year, Bertinelli released a detailed memoir depicting her struggles with body image— Enough Already—that hit the number one spot on the New York Times bestseller list. Since then, she has shared how she is no longer interested in fixating on her weight and that she is “done with the scale.”

The last few years haven’t been easy for Bertinelli and she’s struggled with a lot of heartbreak. She divorced Tom Vitale, whom she married in 2011, and she still feels the loss of her former husband, rocker Eddie Van Halen, who died of throat cancer in 2020. Despite all of this, Bertinelli has made a point of being honest about what she’s going through—particularly her weight fluctuations. “I’m still holding onto this weight because it’s protecting me because I’m going through a lot of challenges,” she said in the past.

We praise Bertinelli’s optimism and for taking fans along for the ride. One fan wrote it best in the comments section: “You got this, Valerie!”
