TREMONTON – Caring Heart Thrift Shop and Donations Center is a busy place in Tremonton. It’s kind of an indoor yard sale and consignment shop. The stores are for profit drop off and retail sales businesses, but the owner said they do help people who need help.

The whole dream was David Burgetta’s, but his wife Christina was soon onboard and things started to click.

“I thought to myself one time last year this town needs a thrift shop ,” he said. “I’ve shopped at thrift shops throughout my life and feel Tremonton needs one.”

Burgetta took the initiative and began to do what it took to get a thrift shop going. He first looked at wooden sheds, but he started to find inventory and needed something substantially bigger.

The Southern California native said had been living in Tremonton for about a year and saw there were no thrift stores in the area but there was empty retail space on Main Street. Burgetta found an investor who could share his vision and they put things in place.

“I was looking for racks to hang cloths on and found an add of a store closing in West Valley,” he said. “It was a mall store closing down and they were in a pinch and had to get out of the building.”

He not only bought the racks they bought a lot of the inventory and loaded into their store space.

“People got the word and started coming in before we officially opened,” he said. “We grew so fast we needed more room we started to look for another location .”

Caring Heart Thrift Shop and Donations Center has evolved into three shops; one in the biggest building sells clothes. The consignment store sells antiques and everything cool, like hunting, camping, fish, boating, military-grade equipment, etc. He said it’s been amazing.

“We found a larger storage unit for couches, appliances, beds, old four wheelers and other outdoor and bigger items,” Burgetta said. “I have a mechanic go through our mechanical stuff and make sure everything is in working order before they are sold.”

Advertising was mostly on social media, and they also have presence on Google.

“For just starting out, we are doing fantastic. The people love us here,” he said. “We want to include everyone on our journey.”

They didn’t have a lot of money to begin with. The couple had only been married for over a year when things began to line up well.

“A little start-up cost,” he said. “I worked a deal with a local investor. We have been here for several months and although we are not a non-profit, we do what we can to help people in town in there.”

The store gets a lot of stuff dropped off as a retail outlet. Pallets of all kinds get dropped off. They get random gym matts, walkers, handcarts and that kind of stuff.

If someone needs anything between the three locations, there is a good chance they have it for pennies on the dollar.

“It’s been amazing and a roller coaster of a ride, but we are loving it,” he said. “We are promoting local businesses and with our low prices and abundant merchandise, we welcome all types of customers.”

The thrift store is going to have a Grand Opening on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m.
