Very strange Alibaba electric bike this week: a $680 electric treadmill bike

Expect the unexpected. Just when you thought I couldn't find anything stranger, my super strange Alibaba electric car column this week, gems like this surfaced. This week we will blow through all the interesting cars and weird-shaped boats to get something truly unique: a treadmill that can ride to a coffee shop.

As usual, I don't know what to call this thing.

The supplier calls it an electric treadmill walking bike, but this does not seem fair.

Part of the electric treadmill is suitable, but also suitable for walking. But the bicycle? Maybe it's a scooter, but even so, we are still working in uncharted territory here. The only other four-wheel electric scooter I have seen is obviously worse than this.

But this is what happens when you let the brave and creative design go unrestricted. You end up with a treadmill with wheels. Power wheels, even.

As our Russian model shows, this thing also has some boogies.

It cruises at up to 20 km/h (12 mph), which is about the same speed as I want to ride a treadmill. I also assume that this is the speed of the wheels and not the speed of the belt, but this is indeed a case of any kind. So don't bet too much in either direction.

You might think that the treadmill is driven by walking, which is both meaningful and completely illogical to some extent. But no, it actually has an electric motor powered by a 550 Wh battery.

It seems that you can simply drive a treadmill like a four-wheeled electric scooter, and then you can also use the treadmill function to exercise.

Now I know what you are thinking: "If you are going to walk somewhere, why not just walk?" This is a reasonable question.

period. There is no "but". This is just a very strange device, meaningless. I'm by your side—I don't understand.

But do you know what is more important than the illogicality of this whole exercise? In fact, it is very cheap, only 680 US dollars. It is difficult to find a suitable ordinary scooter at this price. Or a decent treadmill, for that matter. Fortunately, this thing may be neither a decent scooter nor a decent treadmill, helping to keep the price reasonable and affordable.

However, the best part about this whole thing is the demo video they included on the sales page. Please check it below and let us break it down.

There are many things to love here. First of all, after listening to the title that I don't understand for six seconds, we will hear the most suitable music I can imagine for such a product.

Next, we got about nine clips in four seconds, showing a brief burst of functionality. If this is not a proof of concept, I don't know what it is.

By 0:11, our model seemed to have given up riding this thing, just parked it and used it as a stationary treadmill.

At 0:15, it seemed to be getting old, so now she is just riding it like a scooter, without any treadmill movement at all. Lazy? !

My favorite part is 0:16 one second later, when our hero takes over the model to give us a long (eight seconds) clip of something actually used. The only problem is that the poor guy looks like he is trying to make a smooth turn while walking at the speed of his grandma. Maybe controlling the tilt of the vehicle while changing the balance between the feet asynchronously with the real-world turn is not the most stable method of vehicle operation after all?

At 0:25, we joined our model again, but her world is slowly being overturned by the stupidity of the entire operation.

Phew, it was a whirlwind of movie excitement.

So let's classify it as another one of the very strange Alibaba electric cars this week, and it will not be added to my personal collection. Only 680 dollars is very tempting. God knows that I have almost every other electric scooter or rideable. But some things are a little too strange for me.

However, don’t let me stop you from trying this personal fitness/mobile innovation. If someone happens to find one, please call me. I will see you jogging on the bike lane.
