Living in Hudson County means there is always something new to try. Whether it’s a bar, a music venue, or a coffee shop, there are plenty of ways to switch things up. The same goes for workouts: we have tons of great gyms, outdoor parks, and other ways to stay active. Maybe you’ve never taken a spin class before or you’re a regular, there are several places to check out spinning in Hoboken and Jersey City. Spinning is a great workout that is a cardio pump paired with an awesome playlist. And since it’s indoors, a rainy day won’t ruin the plans. We’ve rounded up all the spin classes in Hoboken and Jersey City so you can get on a bike and see what it’s all about.

There’s plenty to like about Base gym in Jersey City. In addition to its super-convenient location in downtown Jersey City, there are an incredible variety of classes in addition to the gym equipment. The modern gym offers spin classes all throughout the week and if you get hungry after class, there’s a snack shop where you can pick up something healthy. Memberships range between $140 and $160 and it includes the access to the gym as well as the classes offered.

While CycleBar is probably best known for its club-like vibes, there are all types of spin classes at this boutique studio. Connect classes offer a chill, zen experience with low lights and mellow music. Performance classes use metrics to help riders get motivated through competition. Classic rides are the traditional upbeat spin class with a little bit of everything including hills and speed drills. Empower classes offer both a physical workout and a mental boost. An Xpress class fits in an entire workout in 30 minutes. With frequently scheduled themed rides, great music, and mood-setting lights in the studio, there’s really a class here for any mood.  First-time Riders pay $10 for the first class, and memberships range from $109 to $199 a month. Packages can range from $32 for a drop-in ride to $149 for a five-class pack.

Crunch Fitness is a full-service gym complete with weights, lifting machines, treadmills, and stair masters. It also has a great studio inside the gym for cycle classes. Spin classes are offered daily. The class styles include Ripped, which adds weight to the cardio-heavy activity; Theme Ride, which is an instructor’s-choice style ride with certain music or themes; and a newly-added Party Ride, which has a soundtrack of party tracks made fresh for each week. New members can try a free trial at Crunch. Memberships range from $92 to $119 a month and include all amenities and most classes.

Club Metro has a traditional gym setup and offers a variety of classes including spin.  The schedule is updated each week so keep an eye out for cycling. Located right by Newport Center Mall, it is convenient for both Hoboken and Jersey City Residents. First-time visitors can get a free guest pass, and a membership that includes spin classes is $69.99 a month.

Drip Fitness is not only a cycle studio — it also has pilates, barre, and Drip, its signature class. Two female Hobokenites opened this business during the pandemic and have quickly grown the business. Drip Fitness ’ cycle studio, which is located on the fifth floor, brings aesthetics and sweat all in one place. There are three styles of spin classes offered: Cycle x Abs and Arms, which has weights on the bike and an ab workout off the bike; Cycle x Core, which is 35 minutes on the bike and 10 minutes of ab-focused floor work; and Cycle x Booty Burnout, which is 35 minutes on the bike plus 10 minutes of floor work using weights and bands to focus on the lower body. New members can do two classes as a trial for $30, and memberships range from $89 to $222 a month. Drip also offers a virtual membership for $65 a month.

This gem of a cycle studio is expanding and moving across the street in mid-May. Located right across the street from the Path, it’s an easy commute for any Jersey City resident. Prime will not only offer state-of-the-art audio systems for its cycle classes, but it will also now have a variety of other classes including pilates. While not available at the moment, Prime is looking to bring back mini-prime babysitting for the mommies out there who need a little help getting their gym fix in. Prime has great offers for first-time riders, including 2 classes for $25, and an unlimited week for $49. Memberships range from $199-$299, and there are class packs as well that range from $28-$499.

SoulCycle is one of the OG cycling studios, and probably one of the best-known because of its celeb clientele. Fans of SoulCycle include Gwyneth Paltrow, Jake Gyllenhaal, David Beckham, and Michelle Obama. The rest of us can still enjoy the experience, which is offered in 45, 60, and 90-minute versions. Riders will enjoy an immersive, full-body workout paired with incredible music. SoulCycle offers two weeks of unlimited classes for $99; $20 for first-time rider classes; and offers special prices for students. Subscription plans range from $146 to $536.
